E.L.MAR was founded in 1998 by Emanuele Pappalettera, a man of great talent with a dynamic personality. Since the Eighties Emanuele had been mining Trani Stone from his own quarries in the extraction basin called La Pietra di Trani, like the stone, historically the largest calcareous deposit in the Puglia region (at least up until the end of the 80s). The blocks extracted would be transported to the Company’s fabrication facility where they would be stocked and processed for subsequent sale.
At the end of the Nineties, in view of the extraordinary developments that had been occurring in the stone sector in Trani, and driven by many years experience in the field, Emmanuele set up E.L.MAR, a family run business with his daughter and two sons, maximizing the mining of various different types of Trani Stone and Perlato Svevo from his own quarries in Trani and Ruvo di Puglia, modernizing extraction and processing methods right from the start, by using new cutting machinery and innovative technology for the processing and finishing of materials, and achieving excellent start-to-finish results along the production chain.
Initially the new company’s activities developed through the organization and perfection of the entire production chain, from extracting the blocks, to cutting them down to size into slabs, billets and strips, and completing the process with polishing and surface finishing. Slabs are sold in Italy, the rest of Europe and many other markets, most of all China, where Perlato Svevo is much in demand.
In 2002 the running of the company passed into the hands of Emmanuele’s daughter and two sons who, in response to market changes and with the exact same passion and tenacity as their father, each used their own skills to increase the consolidated activities of extraction, processing, sales and marketing, alongside a new business importing other materials from the most important extraction basins in the world (Africa, Turkey etc). To ensure high levels of quality, blocks purchased from quarries in Italy and abroad are inspected by our experts, and followed closely throughout transformation and processing.

To market its products E.L.MAR uses a network of sales reps, operating primarily in Italy. In particular E.L.MAR specializes in researching and selecting materials which, both by colour and geological and physical-mechanical properties, can be used in combination with Trani Stone, or as an excellent alternative. Many varieties of high-grade materials are available in our spacious showroom, and have already successfully been tested by architects and stonemasons in the construction of prestigious civic, public and residential projects.
