The company is divided into two distinct production areas close to each other. The first, where Emanuele Pappalettera began operations, is made up of a workshop area and facilities for storage and the processing of raw materials. The workshop area includes a yard for storage and handling with two cranes and processing machinery : diamond wire block-squaring machines, block cutting machines, single-bladed machines, mono-wire machines; bridge saws, as well as gangsaws in continuous operation. Here both purchased and extracted blocks are initially trimmed by block squaring or single-blade machines and, based on size and characteristics, subsequently cut into normal slabs by gangsaws, or into thicker slabs with a monowire machine, or into strips, billets and tiles and other cuts as requested. Two cutting machines ensure the daily production of 4.8cm thick slabs in various formats (30×30/40×40/30×60/40×60), marketed wholesale for the production of antique tiles for opus romano paving.
Block Cutting
The slabs produced in the first workshop facility, are subsequently transported to be processed and finished in the second, large facility, which houses two lines for resin treating and polishing. Resin treated and coated slabs can then be polished, honed or brushed, based on production needs and supply requirements. In some cases, upon request, other surface finishes can be given, such as bush-hammering, These special finishes are hand applied and give the material a pleasant, characteristic, rustic or antique look. Finishes are applied using modern automated machinery and all work phases are therefore continuously and strictly monitored, meaning very high quality standards can be maintained and surpassed.
Workshop Facility
After finishes have been applied, all slabs are ready to be sold and are stored in the third facility, our Showroom, where they can be selected, purchased and loaded by our Clients. In this facility, there is also an area dedicated to slabs of Lapitec®, an innovative, artificial stone in which aesthetic appeal merges with very high physical and mechanical properties, combining the potential of technical porcelain with the consistency, workability, elegance and naturalness of the colors and finishes typical of natural stone. ELMAR is the official Lapitec® distributor for the two southern Italian regions of Puglia and Basilicata .Also on-site are our administrative and management offices.
